Day of Code is an exciting opportunity for K-12 students in Georgia to explore the world of coding through interactive workshops, and tech talks. Whether new to coding or looking to expand your skills, this free virtual event has something for everyone.

Don't Worry, Be APPy (Elementary Edition) - Learn how to build your very own mobile app in this hands-on workshop. You will have the chance to see other apps elementary school students have created as well as learn more about entrepreneurs and mobile app development.

Binary Coding (Elementary School Edition) - Founder, Pink STEM, in collaboration with Bibb County School District, Macon GA teachers Ms. Carissa Howard, Ms. Alexis Todd, Mrs Monica Jackson, and Mrs. Julie Wilson explore binary coding through fun, hands-on activities! Students will learn how computers use 1s and 0s to think and communicate.

Career Focus: How to Create Your Unique Pathway to Tech Success (HIGH SCHOOL EDITION) - HYPE is an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that provides free programs and resources designed to empower underrepresented girls to thrive as future leaders in tech. During this breakout session, you'll engage with HYPE Scholars who are currently pursuing tech-adjacent degrees at colleges and universities across the country. Get tips, tricks, strategies, and advice on how to forge your way into tech using traditional and non-traditional pathways.

12:45 PM - 1:45 PM | BREAKOUT SESSION #3 

Code Along with HYPE (Middle School Edition) - How are your favorite games or apps created? With computer code! Join HYPE, the non-profit organization working to bring equitable tech education to under-represented girls, to create your own arcade game! Make you or your favorite person the player and help them score points! During this session, students will use block sequencing to design a retro arcade game from scratch! Create it, then play it! Will YOU get the highest score? Let's find out! 

(Note: Students will be using the https://arcade.makecode.com/ platform during this activity. Please secure student access, as needed.)

HIGH SCHOOL SESSIONS:

Session #1 - Programming Humanoid Robots - Discover the future of robotics in this interactive breakout session! High school students will learn how to program humanoid robots to perform specific tasks, combining coding skills with real-world problem-solving. Explore how robotics can transform industries and gain hands-on experience in this exciting field. No prior experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and creativity!

Note: Pre-work materials will be provided to participating teachers and schools before the session.

Session #2 - Don't Worry, Be APPy (High School Edition) - Learn how to build your very own resume or portfolio app in this hands-on workshop. In this lesson, you will learn about the qualities it takes to be workforce-ready and how building a mobile app can help develop these skills. You will also learn about our virtual internship program and how to apply.
