The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) and the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) have partnered to form the Georgia Defense Industrial Base Task Force. The goal of the task force is to collaborate, provide webinars, and resources for Georgia’s 4, 000 defense contractors. GDEcD has a dedicated Project Manager to help defense contracting companies find economic development support services and expertise across a variety of topics, including CMMC.

The task force is divided into 4 committees:

Events: The goal of this team is to build awareness through both in person and webinar events.
Training: The goal for this team is to help members develop operational skills. This includes conversations with experts.
Academic Partnerships: The goal of this team is to help GA universities gain access to expert tools, personnel, academic credit opportunities, and curriculum development. This group also helps with industry associations.
Recruitment: The goal of this team is to help members fill jobs and to assist members in finding new opportunities.

Second Annual “HYPE About Tech” Conference at Clark Atlanta University to Empower Girls in STEM

The second annual HYPE About Tech Conference, presented by Sage, will take place on Feb. 27, 2026, at Clark Atlanta University’s Thomas W. Cole Research Center for Science and Technology. This transformative event is dedicated to closing the equity gap in technology by inspiring local high school girls to lead in STEM careers of the future.

With the theme “Futureproof: Skills, Mindsets and Habits that Outlast the Algorithm”, HYPE About Tech will unite 300 students ages 16-24 with industry leaders and STEM educators for a day of innovation, empowerment and representation.

Veda C. Storey Receives LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement in Information Systems

Distinguished University Professor Veda C. Storey, Tull Professor of Computer Information Systems and professor of computer science at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, has received the LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement, the highest honor in the field of information systems. The Association for Information Systems (AIS) presented the award to Storey at the International Conference on Information Systems in Dec. 2025.
