Reimagine Your Job Search with AI
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Virtual Zoom
Facilitator: Dr. Phenix Culbertson - Associate Director of Employer Relations, Robinson College of Business | Georgia State University
As part of Georgia’s Day of Code, this post-event workshop will demonstrate how to use artificial intelligence as a tool—not an author—to strengthen every step of the job search process. This workshop will guide participants through a series of hands-on, interactive exercises based on Dr. Phenix Culbertson’s AI in the Job Search framework.
Attendees will:
- Evaluate résumé alignment: Use AI prompts to compare résumés to job descriptions and identify skill or keyword gaps.
- Tailor cover letters: Learn how AI can help personalize cover letters to reflect company values and missions.
- Prepare for networking: Use AI to research professionals and companies before coffee chats or informational interviews to generate meaningful questions and talking points.
- Refine elevator pitches: Practice crafting engaging, targeted introductions with AI-assisted feedback.
- Get interview-ready: Generate likely interview questions and refine STAR stories with clarity and confidence.
At the end of the session, participants will understand that AI is a tool for optimization and reflection, requiring the user's critical thinking, perceptions, and collaboration.
This workshop is designed for career changers, job seekers, and seasoned professionals seeking to build confidence and efficiency in their job search strategy.
Note: Every attendant who joins the class will be able to register at no cost for the IBM SkillsBuild course - Creating an Elevator Pitch Using Generative AI, which will provide hands-on practice and tips for writing the best prompts to generate an impressive elevator pitch using AI large language model.
